APS Technology to provide terminal automation solutions at Tecon Suape in Brazil

04.08.2011 – APS Technology Group, Inc. today announced its entry into the Brazilian market with the award of a terminal automation project at Tecon Suape S/A in Recife, Brazil.  APS is to provide Tecon Suape with its crane OCR solution and automated gate systems which provide fast ROI for container terminals.

The APS solution includes a fully automated gate system, STS Crane OCR and its patented MatchMaker tractor identification solutions which automatically identify containers to improve data accuracy, throughput and security while decreasing overall operating costs.  Also included in the project will be two APS software solutions X-Clerk exception management system which allows OCR misreads to be resolved in near real-time; and SureStow, which compares the planned load events to the actual placement, and notes any deviation from the plan. Tecon Suape is implementing the APS solutions to support volume growth, reduce operational costs and to meet the Customs mandate to install OCR at its gates.

“Recife is considered one of the biggest logistics centers in Brazil, and at Tecon Suape we are updating our information technology infrastructure to meet continued volume growth at the terminal,” said Sergio Kano, CEO for Tecon Suape.  “We chose APS Technology as our partner because we have the most faith in their approach and they proved to have the most experience in the region,” added Roberta Siqueira, Information Technology Manager.

This project represents the second in Latin America for APS within the ICTSI group, including Contecon Guayaquil SA (CGSA) in Guayaquil, Ecuador.
