More major suppliers of port cranes, handling equipment and automation technology join leading global industry organisation

London, 10.09.15 – The Port Equipment Manufacturers Association (PEMA), the global industry body for port equipment and technology, has announced seven new members joining in July and August – Liebherr Container Cranes Ltd, VDL Containersystemen, BTG Special Products, Gantrex SA, Lenhert Reglungstechnik GmbH, Pepperl + Fuchs GmbH and Shanghai Jiuneng Mechanic & Electric Manufacturing Co Ltd.

Founded in 1958, Liebherr Container Cranes, a division of Liebherr International AG, is one of the longest-established manufacturers of container port cranes, producing ship-to-shore, rubber-tyred gantry and rail-mounted gantry cranes, plus accessories. Liebherr container cranes are now in use in over 100 container ports and 50 countries worldwide.

Based in the Netherlands, VDL Containersystemen manufactures a range of container handling systems including hooklifts, skiploaders, cable and chainlift systems, as well as spreaders and automated guided vehicles (AGVs) for container transport.
BTG Special Products supplies high quality measurement systems for automated container terminals, including absolute position measurement systems for AGVs, straddle carriers and rubber-tyred gantry cranes.

Headquartered in Belgium since 1971, Gantrex SA, part of the Gantry Group, is a global supplier of crane rail solutions, with operating companies worldwide, supported by design and technical engineering teams in both Europe and North America.

Lenhert Reglungstechnik provides sway control, positioning and collision control systems for crane fleets. The German company’s LENNIX range covers camera measuring, positioning and collisions avoidance and tracking controllers for ship-to-shore, industrial and slewing cranes.

Founded in 1945, Pepperl + Fuchs supplies electrical explosion protection and industrial sensors. The company’s solutions are used worldwide in a variety of process automation and safety applications for clients in the manufacturing, marine and offshore, oil and gas, material handling, power and water sectors, among others.

Shanghai Jiuneng Mechanic & Electric Manufacturing supplies resistors and electrical screw drives for a wide range of lifting and transport equipment, including ship-to-shore, yard cranes and mobile cranes.

“PEMA has had an exceptionally strong year of growth in 2015 and we are delighted to welcome our latest new members to add to the global reach and reputation of our association,” said Ottonel Popesco, President of PEMA.
