PEMA’s mission will be fulfilled through a combination of activities:
  • Fostering industry relations at formal and informal gatherings
  • Research, collation and dissemination of industry information and statistics
  • Contribution to industry standards, guidelines, best practice and training
  • Formulating resolutions and position papers on key industry and regulatory issues
  • Regulatory monitoring and lobbying
  • Outreach and liaison with other industry bodies, associations and initiatives
  • Marketing communications and public relations

The key areas of focus for the Association are the environment, safety, security and productivity, including the application of advanced equipment technologies in ports.

 

Projects currently underway include:
  • Research into the global marketplace for smaller container handling equipment classes, covering FLTs, reach stackers, terminal tractors and trailers
  • Research into port equipment noise and air emissions
  • Outreach to the Container Terminal Quality Indicator (CTQI) initiative, a global terminal performance measurement standard under development by the Global Institute of Logistics and Germanischer Lloyd
  • Creation of a new, more informative Association website and enhanced marketing communications programme
