“While our scope is international and industry-wide, we act to influence on an individual level. Our intention is to involve as many people as practicably possible, and not simply hand down directives: safety should be a collaborative enterprise, not imposed from above”
Hannu Oja, Chairman, PEMA Safety Committee
Director of Port Technology, Konecranes
The goal of the PEMA Safety Committee is to promote safety issues and reduce the risk of accidents involving personnel and equipment in ports. In cooperation with ICHCA International and the TT Club, we strive to formulate best practice across the industry by communicating and distributing information and documentation on safety issues.
The Safety Committee brings together an exceptionally wide variety of experience and knowledge from the global port equipment and technology communities. Because of this scope, the Committee is well-positioned to introduce the practical elements of its work to a broad range of ports, manufacturers and other stakeholders concerned with achieving excellence in port and terminal safety.
